Direct contact with creators you support is a huge perk of being a patron. This article will guide you through sending private messages to your creator(s).

When can I message a creator?
You can privately message creators on Patreon if one of the two conditions are true:
- You have one processed payment with the creator through your Patreon account
- You currently have an active membership with the creator on Patreon
If you are not yet a patron and want to reach out to a creator, you’ll need to contact them outside of Patreon.
How to message a creator from your Inbox
If you’ve processed one payment with a creator you can send them a private message from your Inbox even if you’ve cancelled your membership. Follow the steps below to message a creator from your Inbox:
- Click the Messages link in the left navigation menu
- Your conversations will be listed on the left panel of your inbox page. Click into the search box and type your creator’s name to find a message thread or start a new conversation (be sure to hit the enter or return key to submit your search!)
- Click on the creator to begin a conversation
- Type up your message and click the Send button
If you have a message thread with a creator, you can find a previous message with them on the left-hand panel. You can sort messages by: All, Unread, or Read to find a message thread.

Looking for a particular conversation? You can search by key words or creator page name to find a message thread.
How to message a creator from their page
If you have an active membership with a creator, you can send them a private message directly from their page on Patreon. To message a creator from their page, do the following:
- Click the Manage memberships button (pencil icon) next to your membership in the left navigation panel
- You’ll land on your Active memberships page where you can find and click on the creator’s page you wish to message
- Click the Message button directly to the right of the creator’s profile image and name (example image below)
- Type up your message and click the Send button
My membership
You can also send the creator a message from the My membership tab on their page. To message a creator from the My membership tab:
- Click the Manage memberships button (pencil icon) next to your membership in the left navigation panel
- You’ll land on your Active memberships page where you can find and click on the creator’s page
- Click on My membership from the menu bar
- Scroll down and click the Send a message button
- Type up your message and click the Send button
Message a creator on the Patreon app
You can also message a creator you support or have previously supported from the Patreon app on iOS or Android.
To message a creator on the app:
- Tap on the Messages icon from the bottom app menu
- You can scroll through your inbox and tap on a creator’s name to start or continue a conversation, or search for the creator by nameType up your message and tap the send (upward arrow) icon to send it!
FAQ
What if a creator I used to be a patron of doesn’t show up?
Your membership may have been removed. If you’ve been blocked from having a membership with a creator you won’t be able to message them.
Can I delete messages from my Inbox?
Not at the moment. If you need to fully delete all data from Patreon.com, you can submit this request from our Privacy Centre.
Can I message other patrons?
Private messages can only be sent from creators to their patrons, and from patrons to their creators. There currently isn’t a way for patrons to send private messages to one another. You can thread comments if a patron has commented on a creator's post.
