You can add images, audio, video, dividers, buttons, attachments and a paywall directly into the body of your post using the + menu in the post editor.
Adding inline media to a post
- In your creator view:
- Click the Create button from the left sidebar navigation and select Post
- Add a title to your post (this is required)
- Hover over a new line in the post body – a + icon will appear on the left
- Click the + icon to open the insert menu
- Choose from the following options:

Basics
- Image – upload an image from your computer or paste an image from a third-party site
- Paywall – add a paywall to lock content below it for paid members
- Audio – upload an audio file directly to your post
- Video – upload a video file directly to your post. This option is only available to creators who are eligible for Patreon Video

Others
- Button – add a clickable button to guide fans to a product, external page or another post
- Divider – insert a horizontal line to break up your content. You can also type - - - on a new line as a shortcut
- Attachments – attach a downloadable file. Note: attachments will always appear at the bottom of your post

- Tap the + button from the bottom menu bar and select Post
- Add a title to your post (this is required)
- Start writing your post – a formatting menu will appear at the bottom of the screen
- Tap the + button in the formatting menu. You can choose from the following:
- Image – upload an image from your phone
- Paywall – add a paywall to lock content for paid members
- Audio – upload an audio file
- Video – upload a video file. This option is only available to creators eligible for Patreon Video
- Button – add a clickable button
- Divider – insert a horizontal divider
- Attachments – attach a downloadable file
If you add inline media to a podcast post, the media will only appear in the Patreon post and won’t be included in your RSS feed.
Editing inline media
When adding elements on desktop, you can edit them by clicking on the element or selecting the Edit button in the top-right corner of it – the editor will appear in the right-side menu.
Images
- Alignment – choose to align left, centre or justified
- Caption – add a caption to your image
- Alt text – add alt text to make your post more accessible
- Crop – select the Crop button and move the dots around the photo to select the desired area. Click Save when done
- Add link – add a link to your image. A pop-up will appear, insert the URL and click Save
Video
- Thumbnail – upload a custom image to use as the video’s preview before playback
- Captions – turn on automatic captions or select Add custom captions to upload your own caption file. Changes are saved automatically
Button
- Edit the Description, Button text and Link fields in the right-side menu. Changes are saved automatically
Tips for embedding images from third-party sites
Inline images can be hosted by a third-party site like Tumblr or Flickr. If you use Google Photos, please note that their links expire after a certain time frame and may not work long-term.
You can add an image from a third-party site by right-clicking on your image, clicking “Copy image” and then pasting the image into your post.
