How do I add inline media to my posts?

  • Updated

You can add images, audio, video, dividers, buttons, attachments and a paywall directly into the body of your post using the + menu in the post editor.

Adding inline media to a post

If you add inline media to a podcast post, the media will only appear in the Patreon post and won’t be included in your RSS feed.

Editing inline media

When adding elements on desktop, you can edit them by clicking on the element or selecting the Edit button in the top-right corner of it – the editor will appear in the right-side menu.

  • Alignment – choose to align left, centre or justified
  • Caption – add a caption to your image
  • Alt text – add alt text to make your post more accessible
  • Crop – select the Crop button and move the dots around the photo to select the desired area. Click Save when done
  • Add link – add a link to your image. A pop-up will appear, insert the URL and click Save

Video

  • Thumbnail – upload a custom image to use as the video’s preview before playback
  • Captions – turn on automatic captions or select Add custom captions to upload your own caption file. Changes are saved automatically

  • Edit the Description, Button text and Link fields in the right-side menu. Changes are saved automatically

Tips for embedding images from third-party sites

Inline images can be hosted by a third-party site like Tumblr or Flickr. If you use Google Photos, please note that their links expire after a certain time frame and may not work long-term.

You can add an image from a third-party site by right-clicking on your image, clicking “Copy image” and then pasting the image into your post.
