Live is currently in early testing. While it may not be available to all creators just yet, we’re continuing to expand access.
What you’ll need
Before you begin, make sure that:
- You own the Zoom meeting
- You have Zoom Premium
- You own the Community Chat you want to go live in
Steps to go live via Zoom
-
Enabling Livestreaming for Zoom:
Go to your Zoom Meeting Settings. Under In Meeting (Advanced), toggle the option for Custom Live Streaming Service -
Configure your Zoom Meeting for livestreaming:
In the Zoom meeting, click on More > Livestream > Live on Custom Live Streaming Service. You should be redirected to a form to input your stream credentials -
Start the Live on Patreon:
In a separate tab, go to your Community Chats on Patreon. In the Community Chat you want the Live to appear in, click on the Create Live button at the bottom next to the chat input. Click on Go live now > Use Streaming Software. You should be prompted with your server URL and stream token -
-
Connecting Zoom to Patreon:
Copy these configs back in the original Zoom custom live streaming form. The live streaming page URL should be the URL to your Community Chat. Click on Go live! (note: this does not publish the Live yet on Patreon.com)
In the Live modal, you should now see your Zoom broadcast appearing as a preview. Click on Go live now. Congrats! You’re now going live through Zoom to your Patreon chat!
Key things to know
- The Streaming URL for each Live you create is different, meaning if you create a new Live, you’ll have to go through this setup process each time for each meeting
- You can also create a scheduled event, but at this time we don’t let you set up your streaming software until two minutes before the event starts, so it’s recommended that you start the Live event and broadcast a little earlier than the scheduled start time
- If you need to change the streaming URL when it’s already been configured, you’ll need to go to your Zoom Dashboard. Go to My Meetings and click on the meeting name you want to change. In the Livestreaming tab, you can configure or even preset the credentials before/while the Zoom is starting
