We are currently testing a potential join-for-free feature with a group of creators to understand if and how this feature would benefit our community. This article is for patrons who join for free with one of our testing creators.
Who can join for free?
If your creator offers an option to join their page for free, any patron can join at that level! You’ll know a creator offers this option if you see a Join for free button on their page.
What can I access when I join for free?
When you join for free, you get updates about a creator’s posts directly to your inbox. Never miss an announcement or content that's exclusive to Patreon!
Upgrading to a paid membership
Some creators may only offer free membership; however, if your creator does have paid membership offerings, here’s how to upgrade to a paid tier:

- Click on the Membership tab on the creator’s page.
- Click the Upgrade button for the paid tier you’re joining.
- Please look over your billing date and click the Subscribe now button.
- Enjoy the perks of your paid membership!
-
- Tap on your profile image in the top-left corner. If you’re a creator, you may need to tap on the Switch to Patron Profile button.
- Tap on My Memberships.
- Tap on the creator’s name.
- Tap the Upgrade membership button.
- Tap the Join button to select your new tier and go through the checkout process.
- Enjoy your paid membership perks!
