Live Audio (Early access)

We're currently testing Live audio with a limited group of creators and will expand access to more creators over time.

This article explains how Live audio works, how to go live or schedule a session in advance, and how your members can experience Live audio through community chats.

Live audio overview

Live audio in community chats lets you broadcast in real-time directly on Patreon.

Whether you're hosting an AMA, sharing behind-the-scenes updates, or gathering feedback from your members, this feature enables authentic, two-way conversations that keep your community engaged. You can also schedule sessions in advance to build excitement and ensure your members stay up-to-date with your latest announcements.

You can start a Live audio session directly from your community chat. If you don’t currently have an active chat, learn more about Building community with chats.

• Follow these steps while on your creator profile. You can check your profile by clicking your profile picture in the bottom left corner and clicking the profile you’d like to view.

  1. Select Community from the left menu to visit your chats page.
  2. Select the chat you want — you can go live in both paid and all member chats.
  3. From the chat you selected, click Live audio  in the bottom left.
  4. Select Go live now.
  5. Once you’re live, you can mute yourself at any time by pressing the Mic in the top red bar.
  6. End the live by pressing X in the top red bar.

• Follow this guide while in your creator profile. You can use the profile switcher to change between your creator and member profile by tapping on your profile picture in the top right corner of the Home tab.

  1. Tap the Community tab from the bottom app menu.
  2. Select the chat you want.
  3. From your community chat, click the  button in the bottom left.
  4. Tap on Live Audio and select Go live now.
  5. Once you’re live, you can mute yourself at any time by tapping the Mic in the top red bar.
  6. End the live by tapping X in the top red bar.

Scheduling an upcoming live

If you’re not ready to go live immediately, you have the option to schedule your Live audio session for a future date and time.

• Follow these steps while on your creator profile. You can check your profile by clicking your profile picture in the bottom left corner and clicking the profile you’d like to view.

  1. Select Community from the left menu to visit your chats page.
  2. Select the chat you want — you can go live in both paid and all member chats.
  3. From the chat you selected, click Live audio  in the bottom left.
  4. Type the title of your live audio and select the start time.
     • You can start this live 2 minutes before the scheduled time.
  5. Click Create.

  3. From your community chat, click the  button in the bottom left.
  4. Tap on Live Audio  .
  5. Tap on Schedule for later.
  6. Type the title of your live audio and select the start time.
     • You can start this live 2 minutes before the scheduled time.
  7. Tap Schedule live.

Member experience

When you go live in a chat, all your members in that chat will receive both an email and a push notification, ensuring they don’t miss your Live audio session. If you schedule a session in advance, members will be notified when you schedule it and again when you go live.

Members can join from their mobile device or computer, making it easy for them to tune in from anywhere. Once they join, members can listen, comment, and react to your audio in real-time.
