Discontinuing the Acast integration

  • Updated

We’ve made the decision with Acast to discontinue our integration as of May 30th, 2025. This article outlines the reasoning behind this change, what we’re building in the coming year, and the next steps you can take as a creator to ensure that your members’ access to your podcast and RSS feed is uninterrupted.

What happens to private feeds on Acast after May 30th?

Once the integration is discontinued on May 30th, your private content at Acast will be unpublished to make sure it is not served on your public feed (set to draft in your show dashboard). Any public episodes will remain hosted on Acast. Subscribers will be automatically redirected to their new private RSS feed at Patreon without having to take any action.

We’ve partnered with Acast to ensure there is no disruption to your members. Members will automatically be redirected to your new RSS link. In the rare instance that the redirected RSS link doesn't work as expected for some fans, we advise your members to come to the Patreon app and get a new RSS link.

Patreon for podcasters

New and improved podcasting tools are now available on Patreon. If you have Acast integration, you must switch your private RSS feed to Patreon before the deprecation to continue delivering member-only episodes. To enhance our podcasting experience, we have some exciting features already available and others coming soon.

What we’re working on for podcasters:

  • Importing: Since January 2025, creators can bulk import their episodes directly to Patreon
  • Podcast syncing: You can now sync episodes on your Patreon from another host and continue to manage them there
  • Multiple podcasts: Tools are available to support creators who wish to host multiple shows under one profile

Next steps for creators

If you are using the Acast integration to host your private RSS feed for your Patreon members, you’ll need to take the following steps by May 30th, 2025, to ensure continued access to your episodes. We recommend making this move as soon as possible to ensure the best possible subscriber experience.

Are you already posting your private/paid episodes to both Patreon + Acast?

  • You will need to import all episodes and then publish them to Patreon. Learn more about how to import your episodes from Acast below.

  • You’ll need to import your private feed from Acast. If an episode in the Acast feed has a clone on Patreon, you don’t need to publish it. Only publish the ones with no direct match (within the same tier) on Patreon. Learn more about how to import your episodes from Acast below.

    • If you’ve been posting the audio version on both Patreon and Acast, you don’t need to import episodes to Patreon.
    • If you’ve been posting the video version on Patreon and audio version on Acast:
      • If audio and video are for the same tier: you don’t need to import/publish audio versions of video episodes. Simply convert your Videos on Patreon to Vodcast. See the article on how to Set up a podcast on Patreon.
      • If the audio and video versions are for different tiers, import all the audio, ensure they are all podcast posts, and publish them. Leave your video as a video post.

Migrating your existing episodes to Patreon

If you have been posting your episodes on Patreon already, please skip this step to avoid double-postings in your show. For those who haven’t been posting your episodes directly to Patreon, you can easily migrate them from Acast to ensure your members continue to have access.

Here are some key takeaways before proceeding:

  • You can find the Patreon RSS link in Acast by selecting it from the Patreon drop-down menu in the promotional tools tab. Please refer to the Acast article on how to transfer member-only episodes to Patreon for more details
  • Make sure that the email address associated with the owner's account on the Acast settings page is accessible. You will need to verify it before importing any content
  • When reviewing the drafts of imported episodes on Patreon, confirm that all of them are categorized as podcast types and that information such as tier access, titles, and other details have been accurately transferred
    • Please note: We will apply the same tier to the episode as it was on Acast. If that tier has been deleted since then, the episode will default to paid access

Step-by-step guide to migrating your episodes to Patreon

  1. Start by importing your Acast episodes to Patreon
If you have been posting your episodes on Patreon already, please skip this step to avoid double postings in your show. Make sure you are using the desktop web experience and follow these steps while on your creator profile. You can switch to your creator profile by clicking your profile picture in the bottom left corner and clicking on your creator profile.
      1. Log in to your Patreon creator profile using a desktop browser
      2. Go to your Settings from the left sidebar navigation
      3. Select Podcasts and audio from the top menu
      4. If you already have a podcast on Patreon, click the Import button in the Episodes section under your podcast
        • In case you still need to create a podcast, select the + New Podcast button and fill in all the information. Only description and copyright details are optional; the rest must be completed to continue. Once you’re done, click on Next

      5. Locate and paste an RSS link from your host that includes all episodes of your show. Most podcast hosting platforms provide your RSS feed URL within their settings or dashboard
      6. Click Next
      7. You will be asked to verify your email as part of the migration process
      8. Confirm the code and click Next
      9. Once we import your episodes, all of them will be saved as drafts in your Library. You’ll receive an email when they’re ready for review. For additional steps and information about bringing your podcast episodes to Patreon, visit our guide for Migrating Audio from an External Host

Important: To ensure your Patreon RSS feed is populated, all new episodes must use the Add to podcast feature when publishing. If you upload a video file, Patreon will automatically extract the audio and include it in your podcast’s RSS feed.

  2. Switch to Patreon RSS in Settings
In Settings Podcasts and audio, switch from Acast RSS to Patreon RSS to ensure your members can access your podcasts through their favorite podcast apps. You can start filling in your Podcast settings. This info is shared with other podcast apps to help fans discover your show. Each podcast app determines how it uses this information.

Distribute to Spotify and set up Synced Feeds

Once you're using Patreon RSS, you can distribute your Patreon-exclusive podcasts for your fans to listen to on Spotify! Visit our article about how to Deliver Podcasts with Spotify to learn more about this option.

If you already host a free version of your show on Spotify, you'll need to sync your existing feed with the paid podcast on Patreon. Spotify Synced Feeds for Patreon creators is a feature that helps new fans discover your paid content easily and ensures that existing members can access their exclusive episodes through their preferred podcast player.

Once you’ve set up everything, we encourage you to let your fans know!
