Making sure you are GPDR compliant with Patreon WordPress

  • Updated

Ensuring you are GDPR compliant with Patreon WordPress is fairly simple. Follow the steps below to ensure you're up-to-date:

  1. Make sure you have at least WordPress 4.9.6 running at your site. If not, upgrade it to the latest version.
  2. Visit Settings > Privacy section in your WordPress admin.
  3. You will find that you can create a privacy policy page, if you haven't already created one. If you haven't created a privacy policy page before, just click the Create New Page button to create a privacy policy page automatically.
  4. Visit this URL in your website: http://<domain.com>/wp-admin/tools.php?wp-privacy-policy-guide=1
  5. Replace domain.com with your website domain. Remember to include a subfolder if your site's URL is structured like this: http://domain.com/site
  6. On this page you will find any recommendations from WordPress, or any of the plugins you are using, for adding to your privacy policy. If you haven't already done this, add any necessary sections to your privacy page. This will ensure any of your plugins, including Patreon WordPress, have higher GDPR compatibility.
  7. Scroll down to find the section related to Patreon WordPress, as in "Source: Patreon WordPress".
  8. Click Copy button at the end of this section to copy Patreon WordPress related information, and then paste it to a proper place in your privacy page (either newly created or the existing one you have) and save your privacy page content.

Along with the new GDPR tools in WordPress 4.9.6+, which allow you to export and delete user data as necessary, this makes you GDPR compliant.
