Auto-moderation in Live Chats

Auto-moderation is a machine-learning powered moderation tool that automatically removes chats that go against community guidelines during Lives. For creators and their fans, it’s a helpful co-host that keeps chats a respectful space.

This product is in early testing. Creators, please always lean back on the moderation tools like muting and deleting chats you find offensive.

How it works

Once enabled, auto-moderation reviews incoming messages in real time. If something breaks the rules, it gets removed, and everyone in the chat sees a small message that the message was auto-moderated. Auto-moderation is optional and can be turned on or off by creators at any time.

Here’s how it works:

• 1. Before going Live, find the Auto-moderation toggle in the Live preview
  2. Enabling the toggle sets auto-moderation up from the minute you start your Live
  3. If you choose to turn it off during the Live, hit the Shield icon in the top right corner of your Live chat, and click Disable auto-moderation
• 1. Before going Live, find the Auto-moderation toggle by clicking the Settings ⁣icon in the Live preview

  3. If you choose to turn it off during the Live, hit the … icon in the top right corner of your Live chat, and click Disable auto-moderation

FAQ

• Auto-moderation only removes messages—it doesn’t mute or block users.

• Yes. You and your trusted moderators can still remove messages or mute users manually if needed.

• Right now, auto-moderation is in Early Access and only available for creators in the Live Early Access program.

• If your message was removed by auto-moderation, it likely went against Patreon’s Community Guidelines. Remember: Live chats are meant to be fun, inclusive spaces!

• Auto-moderation decisions can’t be reversed in real time, but you can still participate in the chat. Just keep things respectful and you're good to go.

• Nope—auto-moderation doesn’t block or ban anyone. It just removes specific messages that break the rules.
