Connect your custom domain with GoDaddy

If you bought your domain through GoDaddy, you can connect it to your Patreon page so fans can visit you at a branded URL (like yourname.com or members.yourname.com) instead of patreon.com/yourname.

You’ll need to have already registered your domain with GoDaddy. Once connected, Patreon will still power your page behind the scenes, but your fans will see your GoDaddy domain in the URL.

Add your domain on Patreon

Here's how to change your URL to a custom domain:

1. Go to Creator studio , and select Dashboard in the left sidebar menu
2. Once in the Home tab, select More close to the Edit page button and select Edit page details
3. In the Basics tab, go to the Custom domain section and click the Add a domain button
4. A pop-up will appear with a text box for you to enter Your domain
5. Click the Next button
6. A table with the values for your DNS records will show up to add at your domain provider (a TXT record for verification, plus either CNAME/ALIAS/A records for routing)

Update DNS records in GoDaddy

Now you have to copy the DNS records into the provider’s account:

1. Sign in to your GoDaddy Domain Portfolio
2. Select the domain you want to connect to access the Domain Settings page
3. Select DNS to view your DNS records
4. Check your existing DNS records for any records that conflict with the ones shown in Patreon
   • If an existing A or CNAME record uses the same host as a record Patreon asks you to add, delete the existing record before adding the new one
   • You don’t need to delete other DNS records that don’t conflict with the records shown in Patreon
5. Select Add New Record and choose the record type shown in Patreon from the Type menu
6. Enter the DNS record exactly as shown in Patreon:
   • Name: Enter the host or name shown in Patreon
   • Value: Enter the corresponding value shown in Patreon
   • TTL: Leave this at the default setting
7. Select Add More Records if you need to enter additional DNS records, and repeat the steps above for every record shown in Patreon
8. Select Save to add the record. If you added multiple records at the same time, select Save All Records
9. Once you’ve entered all of the values from Patreon into GoDaddy, you’re all set. Head back to Patreon and click Refresh next to your domain to check the updated status

  • TXT record (verification) → Host: _patreon.members (or as shown in Patreon)
  • CNAME record (routing) → Host: members, Answer / Value: the target shown in Patreon (e.g. custom.patreon-domains.com)

  • TXT record (verification) → Host: _patreon
  • Routing record → either:
    • ALIAS/ANAME → point to Patreon’s host, or
    • A records → point to the IPs shown in Patreon

Verify on Patreon

1. Return to Page details → Basics tab → Custom domain in Patreon
2. Patreon will detect your records, verify your domain, and activate the connection
3. Once verified, we’ll issue an SSL certificate automatically

Most connections resolve within minutes, but DNS updates can take up to 24–48 hours. If your domain doesn’t connect after this time, check the Troubleshooting section in the main custom domain guide for common fixes.

Disconnect or update your domain

To disconnect from Patreon

To disconnect your custom domain and stop it immediately from pointing to Patreon, and go back to your patreon.com/creatorname page instead, follow the steps below:

1. Go to Creator studio , and select Dashboard in the left sidebar menu
2. Once in the Home tab, select More close to the Edit page button and select Edit page details
3. In the Basics tab, scroll to the Custom domain section
4. Find your active domain, select More , followed by Disconnect domain
5. Select Disconnect to confirm

To update DNS in GoDaddy (optional)

This step is only needed if you want to use the domain for something else (like a website or email service)

1. Sign in to your GoDaddy Domain Portfolio
2. Select the domain you want to update to access the Domain Settings page
3. Select DNS to view your DNS records
4. Find the DNS records you added when connecting your domain to Patreon and select Delete next to the records you want to remove
5. Confirm that you want to delete the selected DNS records
