Adding your payout details

  • Updated

This article will walk you through how to set up your payout method for the first time, what to expect if you need to make changes later and the different payout options available. Depending on how you’ve set up currency and location, you may be able to receive payouts via direct deposit to a local bank account, PayPal or Payoneer.

Setting up your payout details for the first time

  1. While on the mobile web or desktop app, click on the Settings link from the left sidebar navigation
    • If you’re not seeing the Settings link, then you may be viewing your member profile. To switch to your creator profile, click on your name in the bottom left corner, then click on your creator profile
  2. Click on the Billing and payouts link from the top menu
  3. Click the Add payout method button
  4. Let us know:
    • If you’re an individual or a business/corporation, click Next
    • If you are a US creator or a non-US creator, click Next
  5. Select your payout country from the drop-down list
  6. Let us know how you would like to get paid from the options and complete the pay-out method form.
    • Your payout method options will depend on the pay-out country you select. Your bank, Payoneer or PayPal account country location information must match the information you provide
  7. Click the Save button, and you’re all set!

When you add a pay-out method for the first time or when you edit your pay-out method, an automatic 5-day payout lock is placed on your balance. After the 5-day payout lock, you’ll be able to withdraw your balance.

Changing your payout details

Once you’ve set up your payout method, you can return to your Billing and payouts settings at any time to make changes – whether that’s switching from PayPal or Payoneer to a local bank transfer, updating your payout country or submitting new tax information.

Bear in mind:
Any changes to your payout details – including updating your payout method or citizenship, or submitting a W-9 form – will trigger a five-day payout lock. You’ll receive an email confirming the hold, including the exact date and time (in Pacific Time) when your funds will become available again.

Payout options

  • We recommend that you use a current account to transfer payouts. Using a non-standard bank account, like a savings account or virtual bank account, may increase the chance of payout failure.

To use Stripe direct deposit, you’ll need:

    • Your checking account number
    • Your routing numbersample_check.gif

If your payout to a standard current account fails, call your bank to confirm that your account information (including your address) is up to date before reattempting.

If your payout to a non-standard account (savings or virtual) fails, update your payout method to a standard current account. Once updated, Stripe will reattempt the payout immediately.

  • Creators outside the United States can receive payouts directly to their bank account.

    Eligibility

Whether bank transfer, wire transfer or both appear as payout options depends on your selected currency and bank country. These options are available to creators who reside outside the US – see the full country eligibility list here.

    How to set it up:

    1. Go to your Billing and payouts settings and click Add payout method
    2. Choose your payout country and confirm your payout currency
    3. Select your desired payout method (bank or wire transfer) and complete your bank details
    4. You’ll be redirected to Payoneer to provide additional information

Note: Neither option is the same as creating a Payoneer Wallet account – you do not need a Payoneer account to use direct bank transfers or wire transfers.

For details about fees, minimum payout amounts and choosing between bank transfer and wire transfer, visit our Payouts guide for creators outside of the US.

    Important notes

    • A five-day payout lock applies after adding or changing this payout method
    • Your information will be reviewed by Payoneer and may require additional details. You’ll be notified once your account has been approved or if more information is needed
  • Please check that you’re logging in to the PayPal account where you’d like to receive your payouts. This ensures that your funds are directed to the correct account.

If you choose to use PayPal, you will be prompted to log in to your PayPal account using our PayPal integration. You will need to enter your PayPal email address and password to link your account.

If you have an issue with your PayPal account, please contact PayPal support to resolve. Then try to log in again. Creators that are located within the region of Ukraine currently do not have the PayPal/Hyperwallet payout option available.

  • When you select Payoneer (for accounts outside the US only), you will be walked through setting up the account and linking it with your current account. If you come across any issues with using Payoneer, please refer to this troubleshooting guide: Payoneer FAQs

Please note that you can only link one Payoneer account to your Patreon account.

When can I pay out?

Beginning in November 2024, Apple will require us to use iOS in-app purchases for digital goods and new memberships to keep the Patreon app available in the Apple App Store. The iOS in-app purchase system requires a 75-day pending period while Apple processes and confirms the funds. Patreon cannot expedite Apple’s processing timeline. Funds from iOS in-app purchases will appear as pending on your account until Apple has settled the transaction. Visit our How iOS in-app purchases work on Patreon page to learn more about this change.

Funds from products purchased through Commerce on Web and Android will appear as pending for up to seven days before they can be withdrawn from your balance. Funds from product sales made via iOS in-app purchases will remain pending for up to 75 days before they will be available for payout. Funds from membership payments may also appear as pending until they are successfully processed. Once funds are no longer pending and appear as available to withdraw, you can pay out your balance.

You’ll be able to pay out once every 24 hours. Once a payout has been initiated, it typically takes 1–5 days for the funds to appear in your personal account. If, for any reason, we are unable to send funds to your account successfully, funds are typically returned to your creator balance.
