Stop accepting new members by unpublishing your page

  • Updated

If you need to step away from creating on Patreon but don’t want to delete your account, you can unpublish your creator page. This removes your page from public view and stops new memberships, while allowing you to return and republish at any time.

Unpublishing is reversible, but with important considerations:

  • If you're on a legacy platform plan, your page must remain published to keep your legacy plan. If you unpublish your page for any amount of time, or if Patreon unpublishes your page for any reason, your page will be subject to Patreon's current pricing
  • After August 4, 2025, we're consolidating our platform plans into a standard 10% fee plan + applicable taxes and payment processing fees — learn more in our guide to these upcoming pricing changes

What happens when you unpublish your creator page

Unpublishing your creator page:

  • Does not delete your Patreon account or erase your existing work
  • Hides your creator page and work from public view — new members won’t be able to find or join your creator page
  • Reverts your profile to a fan profile, allowing you to become a free or paid member for other creators

If you choose to republish later, your creator page and tools will be restored, and you can start accepting new members again.

Important: If you’re looking to only take a short break from billing your existing members, we strongly recommend pausing billing instead. Pausing keeps your page active and your tools intact, without charging members during your time away. Learn more about pausing billing for existing members.

Communicate with your fans

If you have active members, especially those on annual plans, we highly recommend notifying them before unpublishing. Post an update to explain your decision, outline what they can expect, and maintain a strong relationship with your community.

How to unpublish your creator page

Impact on member billing

  • If you unpublish your Patreon, all active memberships made on Web, Android, or made on iOS prior to the rollout of in-app purchasing will become paused
  • Memberships made on iOS after the rollout of in-app purchasing will be canceled without automatic refunds

If you are a monthly charging creator and want a temporary break, pausing may be a better option.

Before you unpublish, we recommend taking the following actions to ensure a smooth transition:

  1. Let your fans know ahead of time
Share a public post explaining that you’ll be unpublishing your creator page and what that means
  2. Payout any remaining balance
Visit your Payouts page and withdraw any available funds
  3. Download your payout history
From the Documents tab of your payouts page, download a CSV for your records. This is useful for tax or budgeting purposes

Unpublishing steps:

  1. Go to your creator settings
Navigate to your creator settings. Scroll to the bottom of the page
  2. Click Unpublish your creator page
This button will start the unpublishing process
  3. Confirm your choice
A confirmation pop-up will appear. Review the information, then confirm your choice to unpublish your page

Once unpublished:

  • Your creator page will no longer be visible to the public
  • You will no longer receive new memberships or payments
  • Access to creator tools and settings will be disabled
  • You can continue to use Patreon as a fan or leave your profile idle until you're ready to return

You can still use Patreon as a member or leave your creator page idle until you're ready to come back.

Note: If you no longer want to have a Patreon account, you can delete your account and erase your data from Patreon.
