This article explains how fans can discover you on Patreon via the Explore tab and offers tips to improve your visibility and attract more potential members. Discovery is now also fueled by new features like Quips and Collab Posts, which appear in feeds and during interactions.
The Explore tab
The Explore tab is a place where fans can find their favorite creators and discover new ones based on their interests. Creators are categorized into various genres and niches based on their content type, taglines, and descriptions. Each fan's Explore tab is personalized to show creators that align with their memberships, activities, and interests.

Improving your chances of being found
Want to boost your visibility on the Explore tab? Here are some tips to help you get featured more often:
- Refine your taglines and descriptions: Make sure they clearly and accurately describe your work. This helps potential fans quickly understand your content and decide if they want to learn more
- Update your About section: Craft a concise, engaging summary of what you create. Highlight what makes your work unique and interesting
- Offer content previews: Providing previews of your audio or video content allows potential fans to sample your work before committing to supporting you
- Create public or free Content: Offering free or public content can attract new fans, giving them a taste of your work and encouraging them to become members
- Post Quips regularly: those lightweight public posts appear in feeds and help fans discover you beyond Explore
- Collaborate with other creators using Collaboration posts to tap into their audiences
- Engage with other creators (likes, comments, reshares) — your interactions influence feed recommendations
Can I change the category I'm placed in?
You can't manually change the category in which you're featured. Patreon automatically categorizes creators based on their content, descriptions, and taglines. Consider updating those to improve your search results, and contact support if you have any questions.
Can I opt out of the Explore tab?
At this time, there isn’t an option to opt out of being featured on the Explore tab. However, you can always share your thoughts or concerns with Patreon support.
Adult/18+ visibility
We are enhancing the Explore experience by including age-verified Adult/18+ creators in search results for fans over 18 who choose to view that content. Those who meet the age requirements can find these creators by adjusting their account preferences. For members who already support an Adult/18+ creator, this visibility is active by default.
