FAQ

  • You can turn it off in Settings directly on the Autopilot page, or you can turn individual features within Autopilot off by clicking into the feature and clicking the toggle off.
  • This will depend on the feature. We want to make sure you have the most accurate metrics and will share as many helpful insights we can.
  • No, each feature sends offers based on specific criteria and will have guardrails to minimise spam and abuse per user.
  • We have guardrails in place so that offers aren’t sent to every fan or fans that have previously already redeemed an offer.
  • We’ve done a lot of testing to find the sweet spot for offers. For example, we’ve found that a 50% discount tends to be the most popular amount to offer, and the most effective at driving redemptions. But you can always choose a maximum discount you’re comfortable with, and we’ll dynamically send discounts below that amount.
  • Yes, we plan to add more promotional features to Autopilot throughout the year.
  • Creators will only be able to access the Promotions page on the web experience.
  • For Free member upgrade offers, you will be able to choose which tiers you want to discount and whether you want to let us optimise the discount amount or choose your own.

    For Paid member upgrade offer, you can set a maximum discount and select the tiers you want to include in the offer.

    For Paid membership teaser campaign, you can select which posts are shared with free members.

    For Abandoned basket email, you can enable or disable the reminder by using the toggle available.

    For Annual membership, you can select the discount amount you want to offer to fans to pay for a year up front.

    For Cancellation offer, you can select which tiers you want to include in the offer and the discount amount fans can receive

    For Benefit expiry emails, you can enable or disable the reminder by using the toggle available and select the tiers you want to include in the offer.

  • Patreon will only send a free member upgrade offer to selected free members who will most likely convert.
  • Most tiers are eligible for discounts. We currently do not support tiers that have limited spaces.
  • Your changes will be made immediately to new offers. However, free members who have received a promotion with the previous discount amount can still claim their offer within seven days of the email being sent.
  • We will stop sending out promotions to your free members. However, free members who have received a promotion with the previous discount amount can still claim their offer within seven days of receiving the offer.
  • We will stop sending out your paid posts to your free members. However, free members who have already started to receive your paid posts teaser may receive all the posts you’ve selected.
  • Free member upgrade offer:

    Free members will receive an email with a discount offer for their first month of membership. Each offer is unique and can only be redeemed once. You can see two examples below, one targeted at free members generally and one targeted at someone who previously purchased something within your Shop.

    Paid member upgrade emails:

    Paid members will get an email similar to the view below showing a post from the tier below.

    Teaser campaign:

    Once annual membership is set up within Autopilot, select free and paid members will receive an email notification offering to switch to a yearly plan. annual membership members

  • On the Autopilot tab, you can click the View insights button. Expanding that will show you how many free members engaged with your offer and how many upgraded to a paid membership after seeing an Autopilot promotion. You will also see new members who have joined with the discounted amount in your Audience tab. Please note that Autopilot insights will show data for the free member upgrade offer, teaser campaign and cancellation offer, but annual membership statistics will be available in the general Insights tab.
  • Pre-enrolment allows those who are not yet eligible for an annual membership to sign up and automatically enrol creators once they become eligible. To see eligibility requirements, visit the annual membership Help Centre article.
  • We’ll also promote your annual membership to select paid members that meet a certain anniversary so they can get more of what you create.
  • A fan might not receive one offer if they’ve already received another discount or offer that is still active. Fans can only redeem one offer every 90 days.
  • To be included in cancellation insights, members must receive and redeem an offer and will be included in the next billing cycle.
