  2. At the bottom of the page, click on the Currency code displayed (e.g., USD, EUR, GBP, etc.)
  3. Choose the preferred currency and click the Update button to save your settings. Your payment amount will automatically update in the Order Summary
  4. Here, you’ll have the option to select your choice of supported currency. Click the Update button, and your payment amount will automatically update in the Order Summary

Updating an existing membership

To change your currency settings on existing memberships:
  1. Click on the Settings link from the left sidebar navigation (if you're also a creator, click Your account in the bottom-left corner and select Settings)
  2. Then click on the Memberships link from the submenu
  3. Choose the creator you want to update your membership for and click the View details button
  4. Click Edit next to the payment method
  5. At the bottom of the page, click on the Currency code displayed (e.g., USD, EUR, GBP, etc.)
  6. Choose the preferred currency and click the Update button to save your settings. Your payment amount will automatically update in the Order Summary
  7. Continue following the steps to update your membership

Currency editing is currently not available for subscription billing, but we're working to add this functionality in the future. If your creator uses subscription billing and you'd like to change the currency you pay in, you can cancel and sign up again in your desired currency. Keep in mind that this starts a new membership — if you're on an annual plan, you'll lose any remaining prepaid time and be charged again for a full year, rather than switching currencies mid-term.

FAQ

  • Changes to currencies will be updated upon your next billing and reflected in your following billing statement. Any price differences are calculated and displayed during checkout if you upgrade or downgrade.
  • When pledging to a creator who operates and sets prices in a currency other than your preferred currency, Patreon converts the tier price for you using a conversion based on historical exchange rate data. You can learn more about how we calculate the exchange rate here: How tiers are converted into other currencies.
  • Credit and debit card transactions on Patreon are currently accepted in our supported currencies. If you're viewing the site in one of these supported checkout currencies, the entire checkout process will be in that currency. Otherwise, the currency displayed will be the creator's currency.
  • Similarly, if you pay through PayPal and you're viewing the site in one of these supported checkout currencies, the entire checkout process will be in that currency. Otherwise, the currency displayed will be the creator's currency.
