Tips for selling posts and collections

  • Updated

This article will share some tips as you get started selling posts and collections and how to think about it as part of your overall Patreon strategy.

If you're looking for detailed instructions on how to set this up, please refer to our Selling posts and collections guide.

Key tips to get started

Start with something you feel good about

  • Begin by selling content that you know your fans already love or are eagerly anticipating. For example, you could sell a popular series, playlist, or course. You can also consider bundling related content into a collection and offering it as a one-time purchase
  • Not sure where to start? Head to your Insights page and check the Posts tab to see which posts have received the most engagement. This can help you identify the content your fans are most interested in.

Price based on what your goal is

  • Pricing can vary depending on your objectives and the nature of the content. Here are a few strategies:
  • If the content is exclusive or larger in size, consider setting a higher price point. For instance, collections with multiple posts could be priced higher due to their added value
  • Compare the price of your content to your membership tiers. If your goal is to provide a more accessible entry point, you might price the content at the same level or lower than your tier pricing
  • Don’t hesitate to adjust your pricing strategy over time based on fan feedback and sales performance

Promote it to your fans and free members

Promotion is crucial for letting your audience know they can purchase your work without committing to a membership. Here are some ways to promote your sales:

  • An easy way to notify your free members is by publishing a free member only post about your latest work for sale. Read more about Setting audience access for your posts
  • You can also share similar language across your social media pointing fans to your Patreon page, or share a Promo card linking directly to your post for sale for a more visual effect. Learn more about Sharing your posts to your social platforms
