Before proceeding, we recommend reviewing Patreon's Terms of Use and Refund Policy. Patreon is a platform that facilitates payments from members to their creators. When we process a member's payment, we send it to the supported creator's balance. If you need to request a refund, please follow the instructions outlined below.
Requesting a refund directly from your Billing history
You don't need to message creators directly to ask for a refund. You can request a refund right from your Billing history, within 60 days of the original payment. If you're outside that window, you will be directed to contact Product Support:
- In your settings, go to Billing History
- Find the payment you'd like refunded
- Click the three dots next to it
- Select Request refund from the menu
- Choose from a list of common reasons and provide additional written context, or select Something else and write your own
- Once you have filled in all the information, Submit the request
After you submit, the creator will review it and decide whether to approve or decline it. You'll be notified when they take action.
Creators are responsible for benefits and content distribution. While it is discouraged, it does not violate our terms if a creator doesn't deliver expected benefits.
Per-creation charges: This refund request flow doesn’t support per-creation transactions. If you were charged per creation, please contact Patreon Product Support for help with your refund.
How to request a refund via Patreon Product Support
If you're unable to request a refund directly from your Billing history, contact Patreon Product Support and provide documentation showing that products, services, or benefits were not delivered within the agreed-upon timelines.
Patreon will investigate the refund claim and determine whether to award or deny the request. If Patreon finds it in the fan's favor, the refund amount will be deducted from the creator's account balance.
How to request refunds for iOS in-app purchases
If you've purchased a digital product through the iOS Patreon app, you can also request a refund for your purchase through Apple. To do this, you would need to go through the Apple refund flow with your Apple ID. Apple will process refunds within 60 days of the purchase taking place. Whether you request a refund from a creator or from Apple, if the refund is granted, you will receive the full amount you paid back to your Apple account.
What if the creator declines the refund?
Since we have credited your payment to the creators' balance, they can decide whether to approve the full refund or decline it. That said, Patreon may issue refunds at our sole discretion. Please be aware that requesting a refund does not guarantee that it will be approved. Patreon will review your refund request, and you will receive a notice of whether the refund is approved or denied. If a refund is issued, it can take 7-10 business days to process.
