To provide a more consistent and reliable experience for your members, Patreon billing follows global standards. This ensures members are always charged on the correct calendar day in their local time zone and makes billing more predictable worldwide.
How billing works
- All charges (except on the 1st of the month) process at 12am UTC (5pm PT).
- 1st-of-the-month billing processes at 12am PT (8am UTC) so US-based creators see their earnings update early in the day on the 1st
- Billing always aligns with each member’s local time zone, ensuring they’re charged on the correct calendar date.
What this means for you
- Your members are always billed on the correct payment day in their own time zone.
- US creators will see their monthly earnings update early in the day on the 1st of the month
- Your total earnings aren’t affected by timing shifts, only the time of day when charges are processed and appear in your account.
- These updates around 1st-of-the-month timing were made in response to creator feedback that 1st-of-the-month earnings appeared too late in the day, which caused confusion and disrupted financial workflows.
- Processing renewals earlier in the day helps you track payouts more predictably and makes your monthly Earnings Insights easier to follow.
FAQ
In July and August, all charges, including 1st-of-the-month charges, were processed at 12am UTC. This meant many US creators saw their earnings appear later in the day.
- Some charges were processed on the evening of the last day of the month (after 5pm PT)
- The rest were processed on the 1st of the month (after 5pm PT)
This split caused some of your usual 1st-of-the-month earnings to appear earlier or later than expected, and totals for July and August may look lower as a result. Rest assured, all members were still charged correctly on their billing dates in their own local time zones.
- Starting September 1, 2025, 1st-of-the-month charges are processed at 12am PT (8am UTC). This ensures creators, especially those in the US, see their balance update earlier in the day. Your insights should now reflect your actual earnings more clearly and consistently.
