I’m on the Founders plan — how can I get early access to Patreon Video?

Patreon Video is currently only available as an early access feature for creators on the Pro and Premium plans. This article will outline what this means if you’re currently on our Founders plan and how you can become eligible for early access to Patreon Video.

What is the Founders plan?

In May 2019, we introduced new creator plans and fees: Lite at 5%, Pro at 8%, and Premium at 12%. Creators who joined before this date were placed on a discounted founders-only plan, 5%, that gave them the same features as when they first joined without any additional costs. This enabled creators to keep the features they were used to without having to pay more, plus a few extra features not available in the simpler Lite plan.

If you joined Patreon before May 2019 and have not updated your plan since, you’re on the Founders plan.

With this discounted plan, we have and still strive to ensure our founding creators continue to have the features they always had to build and grow their membership business. We haven’t changed this benefit for our founding creators and don’t plan to make changes at this time — founders can stay on their discounted plan and continue to enjoy the features they had when they started with Patreon. However, while we’re always improving Patreon and continue to add more ways to make it easier for creators no matter their plan, some new features are only available to Pro and Premium plans.

How do I become eligible for early access to Patreon Video?

To get early access to Patreon Video, creators on the Lite and Founders plans can move to Pro or Premium. You can check your plan and change plans in your creator Settings. When you upgrade from the Founders plan you will no longer be considered a founding creator. The Founders plan will no longer be an available option in your Settings.
