Public RSS lets you distribute your public podcast episodes directly to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other directories, all from Patreon. In this guide, you’ll learn how to move your public podcast episodes into Patreon, set up your new Public RSS feed, add audio previews to your public feed, check your Spotify integration, and redirect your old Public RSS feed. By the end, you’ll have a fully working public podcast feed hosted on Patreon and ready to share.
Why use Public RSS
- Manage all podcast distribution in one place
- Eliminate third-party hosting costs
- Promote previews of your paid episodes in your public feed
⚠️ Note: Dynamic ad insertion is not supported at this time.
How to set up public RSS
Follow these five steps to migrate your public episodes and get your feed ready to share.
Step 1: Import your public episodes to your Patreon show
- Go to Settings → Podcast and audio
- Select your show and click Import
- Paste your podcast RSS link and click Next
-
When importing, you’ll choose who can access your episodes:
- Set access to Public for any episodes you want available to everyone
- If these episodes have a similar paid version (e.g., ad-free or extended for members), toggle Hide from paid members so paying members only see the paid version in their feed
- If some public episodes don’t have a corresponding paid version, leave the toggle off during import. You can adjust access later in your Library (see Step 2)
-
Set your notification preference:
- By default, Patreon will notify members when you publish your podcast. You can adjust this during import or later in your show’s settings.
Step 2: Manually update access (if needed)
- Go to your Library
- Select the public episode and click Edit access
- Set visibility to Public and toggle on Hide from paid members
Step 3: Confirm your feed setup
- In Settings → Podcast and audio, click your show
- Go to Distribution → RSS Feeds
- Copy your Public RSS link and test it in a browser
- Adjust items in your Library if anything looks off
Optional: Add previews to your public feed
Previews are toggled on by default for audio files over 30 seconds long, and you can always enable public audio previews for posts where you previously disabled them.
- In your Library, click the episode title
- In the settings sidebar, enable Audio preview for the post
- Select a timestamp from your episode or upload an audio file of your choosing as a preview (Learn more about customizing audio previews)
- By default, your preview will be visible to non-members. To disable, toggle off Add preview to podcast feed for non-members in the post editor
Step 4: Check Spotify setup
What to know about the Spotify integration and Synced Feeds
When you enable the Spotify integration for a Patreon show, a new, discoverable show is automatically created on Spotify.
- Members can listen to the episodes they have access to, and non-members will see locked episodes with an upsell to join your Patreon
- Any public episodes added to this show will also appear in the Patreon-exclusive version of the show on Spotify
- If you’ve selected Hide from paid members for an episode, that episode will not be included in the Spotify show for your members
- The Public RSS feed for this show will include all public episodes and any previews you’ve added.
If you’ve set up Spotify Synced Feeds, you may need to use episode pairing to avoid duplicates in your merged feed on Spotify. This is especially important if a newly added public episode duplicates one already included in your existing public show on Spotify.

Step 5: Redirect your old RSS feed
- In your previous host, set up a 301 redirect to your new Patreon Public RSS feed
- In Apple Podcasts Connect and Spotify for Creators, check if the feed updated
- If not, update it manually
⚠️ Important: Setting up a 301 redirect is permanent.
Next steps
- Share your new public RSS link everywhere you promote your show
- Use previews to convert free listeners into paying members
