Niches are spaces in the Patreon app built around a shared interest, where creators and fans post together. Each Niche has its own feed of Quips and its own rules. No single creator owns a Niche: you take part alongside other creators and fans who care about the same thing, and the conversation can lead people back to your Patreon.
Niches are in early access and available only in the Patreon app for iOS and Android. During the beta, Patreon creates each Niche with a small group of founding creators and fans.

What your role is in a Niche
As a creator in a Niche, you’re a participant, not an owner or a moderator. You can:
- Post Quips about the Niche’s topic, the same way you share Quips on your page
- Reply to prompts and comment on other people’s Quips
- Invite your members and other fans with the Niche’s invite link or QR code
- You don’t need to moderate or manage the Niche. During the beta, the Patreon Community team handles moderation.
How Niches help fans find you
When you post a Quip in a Niche, it appears in the Niche’s community space and in the Quips tab of your Patreon page. People in the Niche can tap through to your page from your Quips. It’s one more way for new fans to discover you on Patreon.
How to post in a Niche
Before your first post in a Niche, you’ll be asked to agree to its rules.
- Open the Niche from the top of your Home screen
- Tap Create Quip
- Add your text, images, or short video
- Choose your comment settings
- Tap Publish
The first time, read the Niche rules and tap Agree to Niche rules. Scheduling and drafts aren’t available for Niche Quips yet.
Quips in a Niche are visible to everyone in the Niche, not only your members. Keep work you share with paid members on your Patreon page.
How Niche rules and moderation work
Each Niche has its own rules, written by its founding creators and fans with Patreon. Niche rules are different from Patreon’s Community Guidelines:
- Niche rules apply only inside that Niche. During the beta, the Patreon Community team reviews reports about them
- Community Guidelines apply everywhere on Patreon, including Niches. The Trust & Safety team reviews reports about them
How to report or block someone in a Niche
- Tap More on the Quip or comment
- Tap Report
- Choose a reason. To report something that breaks the Niche’s rules, choose the Niche rules option
- Tap Submit
Once you report a Quip or comment, it’s hidden from your view right away. To learn more, read our article on reporting content that violates Community Guidelines.
If you block someone, it applies in Niches too, and limits how you and that person can interact in both directions. Read everything you need to know about blocking another user.
