Whether you're new to Patreon or a long-time creator, this guide breaks down all the fees you can expect when offering paid memberships or selling digital products.
If you published your creator page after August 4, 2025, please note that you are on our standard 10% pricing plan. Creators who published their page on or before August 4, 2025, will not see any increase. If you unpublish your page or if Patreon unpublishes your page for any reason, you’ll be subject to Patreon’s new, standard 10% plan + applicable taxes and payment processing fees.
Get the details about this change and what to expect as an existing or new creator by visiting our guide on our standard pricing plan.
Platform fees overview
The platform fee covers the use of Patreon’s platform and is a percentage of successfully processed membership and one-time purchases. We calculate your platform fee based on the payment amount, excluding sales tax.
How to check which plan you're on
- Visit your Account Settings page: https://www.patreon.com/settings-creator/account
- Your current pricing plan will be listed at the top of your settings under the “monetization” header
If you're unsure, please feel free to submit a request with our Product Support team for help.
-
Who does this plan apply to?
The standard 10% pricing plan + relevant taxes applies to any creator who publishes their Patreon page after August 4, 2025. If you're on a legacy plan and unpublish your page (or if Patreon does) for any reason, you'll move to the standard plan when you republish.
What triggers a switch to the standard pricing plan?
If any of the following happens after August 4, 2025, you’ll be moved to the standard 10% platform plan:
- You unpublish your page (even briefly)
- Patreon unpublishes your page for any reason
- You republish your page after August 4, 2025
What’s included in the 10% platform fee?
The standard plan offers all the core features of Patreon. The 10% platform fee gives you access to all of Patreon’s core features, including:
- Hosted creator page
- Monthly and annual memberships
- Digital product sales (one-time purchases)
- Video hosting (up to 100 hours/month if you have paying fans)
- Community tools: chats, polls, comments
- Audience and growth insights
-
Who qualifies for legacy pricing?
You’ll stay on a legacy pricing plan if you meet all of the following conditions:
- You published your creator page on or before August 4, 2025
- Your page has remained published continuously — neither you nor Patreon has unpublished it for any reason
To stay on your legacy plan:
- Keep your creator page continuously published
- Use the pause tool instead of unpublishing your creator page
⚠️ If you unpublish your creator page or if Patreon unpublishes it for any reason, your plan will switch to the standard 10% pricing upon republishing.

All creators on the standard 10% plan have standard processing rates, which vary by:

- Member’s location
- Currency
Processing rates (USD payouts only)

The following payment processing rates are only applicable to creators who published their page on or before August 4, 2025. If you unpublish your creator page for any amount of time, or if Patreon unpublishes your page for any reason, your account will be subject to Patreon’s standardized platform plan + applicable taxes and standard payment processing rate when you republish your page.
Founders who have changed their payout currency remain on the Founders plan and retain their 5% platform fee, but are subject to the standard processing rates below rather than the Founders processing rates.
What factors into your total payment fees?
You can confirm your platform plan in your Settings. Your payment fees apply on a per-payment basis and include several components, depending on how your page is set up and where your fans are located.
The following factors contribute to your total payment fee:
-
-
Your tier price
If you're on a legacy platform plan, your tier price determines whether the standard or micropayment processing rate applies -
Your payout currency
Your payout currency determines which payment rate applies. For creators on legacy plans, it also affects whether the micropayment rate is used - Additionally, the amount paid out is impacted by the following:
-
Sales tax or VAT (if required)
In some regions, tax must be collected from your members by law. Your payment processing fee is calculated based on the total payment amount, including any applicable tax. Learn more about sales tax and VAT -
Currency conversion (if applicable)
A 2.5% currency conversion fee applies when a fan pays in a currency that’s different from your payout currency. This fee is calculated on the full processed amount, including tax

You’re on the Founders plan if you joined Patreon before May 7, 2019, and haven’t upgraded your plan in the past, changed your currency, or had your creator page unpublished by you or by Patreon for any reason.
The following factors contribute to your total payment fees:
-
Your tier price
If you're on a legacy platform plan, your tier price determines whether the standard or micropayment processing rate applies -
Shared membership
Fees are split between creators on our Founders plan when multiple memberships are combined in one transaction -
A member’s payment method
Different processing rates are applied based on your members’ payment method - Additionally, the amount paid out is impacted by the following:
-
Sales tax or VAT (if required)
In some regions, tax must be collected from your members by law. Your payment processing fee is calculated based on the total payment amount, including any applicable tax. Learn more about sales tax and VAT -
Currency conversion (if applicable)
A 2.5% currency conversion fee applies when a fan pays in a currency that’s different from your payout currency. This fee is calculated on the full processed amount, including tax
-
Sales tax or VAT (if required)
If you are on the Founders plan and change your currency, you will retain your 5% platform fee but will be subject to standard processing rates.
Founders payment processing rates (USD only)
Member's payment method Standard rate Credit card / Apple Pay 1.6% + $0.30 Paypal / Venmo 2.65% + $0.28 How shared membership affects fees
If a member supports multiple creators in a single transaction, and you’re on the Founders plan, you’ll share the processing fee with those other creators. This may reduce your individual fee for that transaction.
-

Creator-to-creator membership payments
When a creator’s Patreon balance is used to cover a membership payment to another creator, Patreon’s payment processing fee is not applied. If a creator’s Patreon balance doesn’t cover the full amount of their membership payment, we’ll charge their payment method, and payment processing fees will apply.
Fees on one-time purchases
It’s free to list your work for sale on Patreon (e.g., digital products, posts, and collections). One-time purchases are subject to the same fees as membership payments:
-
Platform fee
Between 5% and 12% of successfully processed sales + applicable taxes, depending on your platform plan -
Payment processing fee
Varies by currency (e.g., 2.9% + $0.30 USD) standard payment process rate
Creators who started selling digital products before May 22, 2025, may be on a 5% one-time purchase fee + applicable taxes and payment processing rates.
Learn more about how sales work in our selling one-time purchases guide.
Currency conversion fees
A 2.5% currency conversion fee applies to any payment made in a currency different from your payout currency.
This fee is:
- Calculated on the full payment (including tax)
- Refunded if the member is refunded
- Shown under the Payment Fees column in your Earnings dashboard
You will receive your portion of membership payments in your payout currency based on the average exchange rate from the day before the payment was successfully processed.
Where supported and as applicable, we automatically convert the prices of offerings and memberships into a member’s local currency based on a currency conversion rate that may be determined at our sole discretion. You can learn more about how tiers are converted into other currencies.
If a paid member pays you in your payout currency, then there is no currency conversion fee applied.
Taxes applied to creator fees
Where required by law, Patreon collects VAT, GST, or sales tax on platform fees. These taxes:
- Are based on your business location and local regulations
- Are shown as a separate line item
Visit our Taxes on creator fees article to learn more about where Patreon applies taxes on fees and how it may affect you.
Payout transaction fees
Funds in your account balance already reflect the deduction of your platform fee, payment processing fees, and currency conversion fees. Patreon deducts a payout transaction fee when your balance is transferred from your Patreon account.
Your payout fee is not listed in the breakdown of fees within your creator earnings dashboard; however, you may find the payout fee for your payout method and currency of choice in the tables below.
