Selling one-time purchases on Patreon

  • Updated

Whether you’re a musician, illustrator, writer, or video creator, you can sell your digital work directly to fans. From full videos and podcast episodes to collections of your best work, your membership or exclusive media can be available as one-time purchases through your Shop tab.

It’s free to get started. You’ll only see fees applied when you earn, and we’ve built tools to help you track sales and grow over time.

In November 2024, we’ve started gradually rolling out access to Commerce for creators that are classified as Adult/18+ and will continue this rollout into 2025.

All work sold through Shops must comply with our Community Guidelines.

What you can sell

You can sell posts, digital products, and collections:

  • Digital products (text, audio, video, image, attachments)
  • Posts (these can be posts for paid members or for purchase only)
  • Collections (groups of posts, like mini-series or themed bundles)

Supported file types:

  • Audio: .mp3, .mp4, .m4a, .wav, .aac, .ogg

How to post your work for sale

There are two pathways to post your work for sale in your Shop.

  • Click Create > Post
  • Click Create > Product

Both options will take you to the posting editor, where you can:

  • Add a title, write details about what you’re posting, and set your price (between $3 and $5,000 USD)
  • Make the posting available to members (as well as for sale) or for purchase only
  • Edit your preview
  • Publish your posting to your Shop

Posting a collection for sale

You can set a collection for sale when you first create it, or anytime afterward.

Note: Collections must include at least one post to appear in your Shop.

Fees that apply to sales

There’s no fee to post products for sale — fees are only applied to successfully processed payments.

For creators:

* iOS in-app purchases for one-time purchases are currently available in select countries. Fans who are not located in one of the currently supported countries can still view products on the iOS app but are unable to purchase products on that platform.

Managing your Shop

You can make changes to work you’re selling in your Shop at any time — even after they’ve been purchased.

  • Edit the title, files, price, and description
  • Stop selling or unpublish to hide the product from your Shop (existing buyers keep access)
  • Delete to remove the posting entirely (removes access; refunds optional)

How to manage your one-time purchase

What fans see

You can use the Preview feature to see how the public views your posting on your page.

Featuring products in your shop

You can feature up to three products at the top of your Shop to drive attention from your fans. Featuring products is a great way to showcase your most popular or new items and encourage sales.

To feature a product:

  1. Click the More button () next to your posting
  2. Select Feature in shop

Your featured products will appear prominently at the top of your Shop, helping fans discover your best offerings quickly.

The after-purchase experience

When someone buys access to a post or collection, the content unlocks immediately. Buyers can access their purchases anytime from the Purchases tab — no membership required.

You can continue to edit, add to, or remove content after posting it for sale. Buyers will see any updates, even if changes are made after their purchase. If you remove content, consider offering refunds or notifying affected fans.

Track and grow

Head to Insights > Shop to view your earnings by product and see your top-selling items. Sales data updates every 4 hours.

To see who’s buying your work, go to Audience > Sales. Click a buyer’s name to view their purchase history — including full details if their activity goes back more than three months.

Payout timing

Once funds are available for payout, you can manually withdraw your balance immediately, or if you have automatic payouts enabled, your funds will be paid out on the 5th of each month.

Platform Pending funds
Web & Android Up to 7 days
iOS Up to 75 days (Apple delay)

When you withdraw funds, a payout fee will be deducted from the payout amount.

Refunding a customer

Funds must be available in your balance to issue a refund. You can issue refunds for up to 90 days after a purchase. Once refunded, the customer immediately loses access to the product.

Refunds typically take 5–7 business days to process and can’t be undone.

How to issue a refund:

Before you start: Make sure you’re in your creator profile.
To switch, click your name in the bottom-left corner and select your creator profile from the menu.

  1. Switch to your creator profile
  2. Go to Audience > Sales
  3. Search for the customer or find them in the list
  4. Click their name to view the order details
  5. Select Issue refund

If you're deleting a product, you’ll be prompted to:

  • Refund all customers who purchased it
  • Or select individual purchases to refund

iOS Purchase Refunds

Refunds for iOS purchases can be handled in two ways:

  • Through Patreon: Issue the refund as usual (if funds are available)
  • Through Apple: Customers can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple handles the process and communicates directly with the customer. If approved, the full amount is returned to their Apple account — Apple will process refunds within 60 days of the purchase taking place
