Repricing tiers with existing members is only available for creators on our Subscription Billing model. If you are on a First-of-Month billing model, you can get access to Tier Repricing by switching to Subscription Billing from your Billing & payout settings.
You won't be able to change the price of a tier that has a Free trial enabled just yet. This will be coming soon.
If you're considering updating the price for your existing tiers, you can easily do so from your Membership tab. Adjusting the prices is possible even if you already have active members on those tiers. Keep reading below to learn how to reprice your tiers and key things to consider when making these changes.
How to change the price of your tier
-
Make sure you follow this guide while in your creator profile. You can switch to your creator profile by clicking your profile picture in the bottom left corner and clicking on your creator profile.
- While logged in to your creator account, click on the My page link from the left sidebar navigation, if you aren't already there
- Go to your Membership tab
- Choose the tier you want to edit the price and select Edit
- You won't be able to change the price of a tier that has a Free trial enabled just yet. This will be coming soon
- Below Monthly price, you'll be able to enter the new updated price:
- Note that you can only increase your pricing tier by a maximum of $20 from the initial price
- If you have recently adjusted your price within the past 31 days, you won't be able to make any changes until the 31-day period passes
- Once you're happy with your new price, scroll all the way down and make sure to select Save changes
- After making the desired changes, a pop-up will appear on the screen confirming your changes. Please carefully review its contents to understand the impact on all members before confirming. Once reviewed, click Confirm changes to proceed
- Existing members on the tier are automatically notified that the price of their membership has changed. The notification includes details about when the new price will take effect. All renewals for the next 31 days will be at the old price, so existing members aren’t charged the new price right away. Your members will receive an email letting them know their tier price is changing after 31 days and that their next bill will reflect the new price
- Make sure you follow this guide while in your creator profile. Tap the menu in the top left corner, and then tap on your profile photo at the bottom of the menu. Select your creator profile.
- Tap the My Page button from the left-hand menu if you aren't already there
- Go to your Membership tab
- Choose the tier you want to edit the price and select Edit

Key things to know about repricing your tier
Pricing & membership details
- Price Increase Limit: You can raise your tier price by up to $20. This cap ensures that price changes remain reasonable for your members — (e.g., If your current tier price is $5, you can increase it to up to $25.) If you wish to increase your tier price by more than $20, we suggest creating a new tier and asking your members to join. You can learn more about Best practices for increasing your tier prices
- Price Lock Period: Once you've adjusted a tier's price, there is a 31-day period during which you cannot alter the price of that tier. This 31-day period serves as the notification period for existing members. All renewals billed during the 31-day price lock period will be charged at the old tier price (so members have time to adjust to the new price). Once this 31-day period is over, renewals will be billed at the new tier price, and if necessary, you may adjust the price again. We do not recommend changing the price of a single tier multiple times during consecutive months, as it may lead to an increase in cancellations from your members
- Membership Benefits: You may modify the benefits associated with each tier in conjunction with pricing changes. Although the tier price will be locked, the other elements of your tier (including description, title, and benefits) are fully editable during the 31-day Price Lock Period
- New members pay the new price right away: Once you change the price of the tier, new members who sign up will be charged the new price for that tier
How this impacts your existing members' upcoming renewals during the 31-day Price Lock Period
-
Monthly members: For existing members on that tier, the price change will take effect one month (31 days) after the day you change the price. That means monthly members will have one more monthly renewal at the old price before the new price takes effect.
- For example, if you change your price on September 3, and your existing member's renewal is on September 5, they still pay the old price on September 5th (since it’s within the 31-day Price Lock Period), and on October 5, they'll pay the new updated price
-
Annual memberships: Annual members who have a renewal set to occur during the 31-day Price Lock Period will be charged the old price for their annual renewal.
- For example, If you change the price of your tier on September 3, and your annual member’s renewal date is October 1, their renewal will be at the old price (since it’s within the 31-day Price Lock Period).
- For example, if you change the price of your tier on September 3rd and the annual member's renewal date is October 5th, their renewal will be at the new price. Annual members receive an extra reminder about their upcoming payment 2 weeks prior to their renewal, so annual members who will have a renewal at the new price will get extra notice of the price change

All notifications related to price changes are sent directly from Patreon. However, we encourage you to personally reach out to your members to explain the changes and any new value added to the membership as part of the change. Creators who create a post or send a message to existing members detailing any additional exciting things included with tier price changes are more likely to retain members.
