Creators are now required to combine profiles

As part of Patreon's Network Discovery updates, creators and members will gradually see a more unified experience across Patreon. That means some steps in this article may look different depending on whether your accounts are already combined.

If you created your Patreon account recently, you may already have a single profile. If you don't see a prompt to combine, this doesn't apply to you.

Who does this apply to

  • Creators (including creators who are also members and support other creators): Combining accounts creates a single identity for both creating and membership activities. You can combine your accounts now through July 6, 2026 (previously June 30, 2026). Starting on July 6, 2026, combining will be required
  • Members-only (no creator page): You may notice navigation updates as these changes roll out. Once the creators you support join the network, you'll also get access to a new feed. No action is needed from your side

What may look different for creators after combining profiles

  • One identity: Your name and profile image are the same everywhere, whether you're creating or interacting as a member
  • One inbox: Notifications and messages are unified in a single place
  • Updated navigation on desktop and mobile: You may see updated labels and entry points that reflect a single, combined experience, including fewer profile-switching steps

Learn what's changing and how to get started in our article about combining your creator and member profiles into a single identity.

Report a message

Members can report messages that they feel are violating Patreon’s Community Guidelines directly to creators. We encourage everyone to review, uphold, and enforce these guidelines to keep your community safe.

How to report a message:

Block a member

Members can also block other members in order to continue interacting with a chat while hiding messages from particular members.

How to block a member:

Report a live

Members can report an ongoing Live if they feel the content or environment violates Patreon’s Community Guidelines. We encourage you to review, uphold, and enforce both sets of guidelines to keep your community safe. Once you report a live, the creator’s stream is suspended for all viewers, and the creator is notified.

How to report a live:

Closed Chats

If you’re watching a Live and suddenly can’t send messages in the chat, don’t worry—it just means the creator or their moderators temporarily turned chat off.

This is a normal part of how some Lives are managed, especially when things get busy or the creator wants to focus attention elsewhere.

What you can still do

  • You can still watch the Live and enjoy the stream.
  • You’ll still see all previous chat messages, including new ones from the creator or moderators.
  • Once chat is turned back on, you’ll be able to post again.

Muting

If you’re watching a Live or participating in a Community Chat and suddenly can’t send messages, it may be because you’ve been temporarily muted by the creator or a trusted moderator. This feature helps creators keep things respectful and on track for everyone watching.

This isn’t a ban—you can still enjoy the Live and follow the chat, but you won’t be able to post messages for a little while.

What being muted means

  • You’ve been muted for a limited time: 15 minutes, 1 hour, or 24 hours. You will see a message letting you know how long the mute lasts.
  • You can still watch the Live and read messages in the chat.
  • You just won’t be able to send messages until the mute expires.

Removal from Live

If you suddenly can’t access a Live you were just in, it’s possible the creator or a trusted moderator removed you from that Live session. This action—called Remove from Live—is used to help keep the experience safe and respectful for everyone.

What it means

  • You were removed from the Live video and chat.
  • You won’t be able to rejoin that specific Live session.
  • You’re not blocked—you can still watch future Lives from that creator, unless you’re blocked separately.

Why it happens

Creators and their moderators use this option to keep the Live environment comfortable for everyone. It might be used if something you said or did was disruptive or against community guidelines.
