At Patreon, we bring a creator-first mindset to the tools and processes we build to uphold our Community Guidelines and keep the platform safe. Our Content Moderation team can now flag or hide specific posts that need correction, allowing creators to fix posts while keeping their page up and running.
My post has been flagged
A post may be flagged if it might violate our Community Guidelines. Creators will be notified about flagged posts in 4 different places:
- Email notification
- Mobile push notification (if enabled)
- Notification tab on desktop and mobile web
- Notification on the post in question
How long will I have to correct my flagged post?
Once a post has been flagged, creators have 72 hours to fix the post so that it follows our Community Guidelines. After 72 hours, the post will be hidden. Read the section below to learn more about hidden posts.
How do I fix my post so it’s within Patreon’s Community Guidelines?
To fix a flagged post, click on the flagged post notification to review the specific policy reason that your post was flagged. You’ll have 72 hours to make edits to your post and to send the edited version to our Content Moderation team for review. Once you’ve corrected the post, click the Save and submit for review button. Our Moderation team will review your post changes within two business days.
If your edits are accepted, the post will stay up, and you’ll have completed the review process. If your post still needs work to be within our guidelines, the post will be hidden while you work to fix it. We’ll send you notifications (email, push notification, and notification tab) if your post has been hidden. Learn more in the section on hidden posts below.

A post may be hidden if it violates our Community Guidelines or was flagged but not corrected within 72 hours. Hidden posts are not visible to patrons or the public when they visit a creator’s page. Hidden posts are accessible to the creator via the Hidden tab of their Managed posts page. The Hidden tab will only appear if a creator has hidden posts that violate our Community Guidelines.
Will I be notified when a post is hidden?
If a post of yours has been hidden, we’ll notify you through email, push notifications (if enabled), and the notification tab on desktop or mobile web.

Hidden or flagged posts do not impact your ability to interact with your patrons or post new content. In most cases, flagged and hidden posts will not impact your payouts either — you can still pay your balance out as you normally do.
If you charge per creation, and a post you intended to charge for is hidden before the 1st of the month, we will not process payments for that post. This will not impact any other posts you may have intended to charge for as long as they are not hidden for Community Guidelines violation(s).
It’s important to note that other posts will not be flagged or hidden unless they also contain Community Guidelines violations.
-
You can make changes to the flagged or hidden post according to the policy reason shown when you edit the post. If you see no other way of fixing your post, you have the option to delete the post.
What if I don’t take any action at all?If you do not make edits or take action to bring your post within guidelines, your post will be hidden indefinitely.
-
No, only the specific flagged post will be hidden. If the rest of your page is within guidelines, your page and other content will still be accessible by your patrons.

Context is very important when considering how violations may impact an account. We will continue to try to educate creators to help them understand how a rule has been broken and how to remedy the issue. In cases where the violation is particularly bad, or we see multiple instances of violating content, we may take further action, such as suspending or removing their account. In the most extreme cases, we may ban a creator from using Patreon.
It's also important to note that all moderation decisions can be appealed, so if you feel that the decision was incorrect, you can let us know.
If you’ve had violations in the past and want clarity on the Community Guidelines, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Moderation team by Selecting “I have a question about Community Guidelines ” on this form, and a Trust & Safety teammate will be happy to help you.
