To support Patreon's global community, we offer payments in different currencies. There are 2 places where you can choose one of our supported currencies as your currency:
- When you start your creator page. During the page creation process, you’ll be prompted to choose your currency
- After you’ve launched your page. You can change currencies once every 31 days from your Creator settings
Choosing a currency that aligns with your location or your member base can help reduce fees.
-
If we support the member's currency, your tier prices are converted from your currency into their currency. They won’t experience any additional foreign transaction fees.
If a member’s bank operates in a currency that we don’t currently support, their processing currency will default to USD. As they are paying in a currency different from that of their local bank account, their bank may charge them an additional foreign transaction fee.
When you set the price of your tiers, you’ll have the opportunity to preview your tier prices in other currencies we support from the tier editor.

There are several reasons why you may want to bill in a currency other than USD. For example, if you reside outside the U.S., you may prefer to receive your earnings in your local currency. Or, if a large portion of your member base uses a supported local currency, switching can help minimize conversion-related fees. Paying out in your local currency also results in the lowest payout fees and avoids the need for conversion fees upon payout to your bank.
Keep in mind: there is a 2.5% processing fee on member payments made in a currency different from your payout currency. Choosing a currency that aligns with your member base may help reduce overall fees.

If you're an international creator receiving payouts in USD, you have two direct payout options available to you alongside PayPal and Payoneer:
- Cross currency bank transfer – $0.25 flat fee + 1.55% currency conversion fee (this is inclusive of any currency conversion fees). Eligible countries can payout from USD in Patreon directly to their local currency
- USD to USD bank transfer – $0.50 flat fee. As an international creator, you can set up and pay out to a US bank account at any time via a USD to USD local ACH transfer. Just be sure to select the United States as your bank country.
You can find these options in your Billing & payouts settings.

Yes — but your page must have been published at least once.
If your page is still in draft mode and has never been published, you won’t be able to change your billing currency after selecting it during page creation.
Once your page has been published at least once — even if you later unpublish it — you can change your currency once every 31 days by following these steps:
- While logged in to your creator account, click on Settings from the left sidebar navigation and head to Billing and payouts
- Under Your currency, click on the Change currency button to start the change process
- Follow the prompts step-by-step to change your currency
Note: To change your currency, your available balance must be $0. If you have an available balance, you’ll need to withdraw it before starting the currency change process. Pending balances (like iOS payments) won’t prevent the switch and will be converted into your new currency once they clear.
-
Members can choose one of our supported currencies as their default processing currency. We’ll display your tiers at a converted price for their currency, based on your currency.

What this would mean for you:
- To continue receiving payouts after changing your currency, you’ll need to re-add your payout method
- By changing your payout currency, you’ll be subject to the associated payment processing fees related to the new currency choice
- When receiving a pledge in a different currency than your payout currency, Patreon charges you a 2.5% currency conversion fee. This fee applies to both new and existing members
- If you’re a creator with Founders status, switching currencies may remove your access to Founders payment processing fees. Your platform fee will remain unchanged
What this would mean for your members:
- This will not affect your existing members
- Anyone new to your page will see prices in their local currency when supported. If not, your selected currency will be shown instead
- While you update your currency, anyone trying to join will see a maintenance message and be asked to try again in 15 minutes. The process will time out after 1 hour if not completed
